About Helsinki City Trail

This is a trail running event for everyone! We offer great trails in the heart of Helsinki, beautiful scenery and a fantastic atmosphere. The race centre is situated at the legendary Eläintarha Sports Park next to the Olympic Stadium, which also serves as the start and finish. The race centre at Eläintarha, or as the locals call it, “Eltsu”, is easily reachable by trams 2, 3 and 7 from the city centre or Pasila.

The route

Three trail loops are available: 6 km (to Kivihaka), 14 km (to Pirkkola) and 24 km (to Paloheinä). The trail overlaps on the way out and back only at the crossing of bridges.

Before the race:

You can pick up your race pack on Friday 21 September between 12noon-8 pm from Intersport Mikonkatu, Mikonkatu 7, 00100 Helsinki. This will make things run smoother on the race morning. However, you can also pick up your race pack still on Saturday morning between 9am and 1:30pm at the race office.

At the start:

In order to avoid unnecessarily crowded trails the start will take place in 2 groups. There is no need to choose the starting group at the time of registration. Each runner will select their group on the race day based on their expected finishing time. The first groups for each distance starts as follows:

6 km – every 5 min starting at 1:30 pm
14 km – every 5 min starting at 12 noon
24 km – every 5 min starting at 11 am

After the race:

We hope that as many people as possible will stay at Eltsu to cheer for other participants. An awards ceremony for all distances will be held around 2:30 pm. The best female and male are awarded, as well as some awards that will be drawn from all participants. The event village at Eltsu is open 10 am to 5 pm, with exhibitions from partners and other trail running events. Changing rooms and showers are available after the race at Eltsu race village.

We hope to see you there! For the moment, for any questions, please send us an email or get in touch via Facebook.
